Too Hot Too Fat Tour Recap!

Hi!

The little tour has finally come to an end.

Thanks to everyone that came out to these shows and supported us on this journey, you definitely made it worth the trip, not to mention getting to meet some cool people and catching up with old friends.

Most talked about thing on tour: Cicadas

Really doe.

Anyway, I had the pleasure of going with my homie Lodoublet and his wife Mandie Savage who make up the super power music burlesque hip hop freak show act or whatever you wanna call them, The Gospel. We were also joined by our friend and featured artist of the tour, Le Sonj. This was a fun group to be with and I got to know them a little better as friends and artists. We all worked pretty well together in my opinion (or they all just hate me now lol).

Things people don't really buy much of anymore: Compact Discs

I could write so much more about the fun we had and crazy shit we saw, but I'm going to try and keep the recap as brief as possible. Thanks for taking the time to check it out.

Day 1: We kicked off in Madison at The Wisco, which I had played the weekend before, but for a place that doesn't really cater to Hip Hop, they've been pretty good to us the past couple years, so thanks y'all. It was a good way to start the tour especially in our state with a good group of friends and fans in attendance. Shout out to DJ Moses for holding down the decks for us and our buddy Stream Of Consciousness for opening up. Thanks to the homie Phatbrim for always hooking us up with the lodging too. Until the next.

Day 2: Next stop was a new one to me in Carbondale, IL at The Skihaus, which is a D.I.Y. house venue in the college town of Southern Illinois University. I screamed something about the Salukis and they told me no one really gives a shit about that, so enjoy college? We played with a band touring from Tulsa, Oklahoma and one of the local rappers. Everyone held it down for a good show with a pretty decent turnout and supportive crowd. Thanks again to the cats that brought us out and everyone that came out. On the way back to our room we stopped at a train next to this white guy banging some thug ass rap music reciting the lyrics and waving his gun around like a mad man, totally a White Boyz moment. Every time he looked over at us we looked away like we didn't notice, it was pretty epic.

Day 3: We made way to Ohio for the next 3 shows and playing the first night there at a really cool venue Buzzbin in Canton. This place has an art and music shop, arcade, magazine, and a venue all in this cool little complex Downtown. Thanks to Buzzbin Mike for bringing us out and for the hospitality. The show was pretty cool including another Burlesque group the Red Hot Heathens out of Cleveland. I caught a brief moment of the earlier band but had to load in, they sounded pretty dope though. During our portion of the night Lodoublet got a little crazy during the end "Noise" part of their set and a dude handed him a knife to start stabbing his guitar with, he was then afraid to grab it back from Lo at the end of the set, which was actually pretty hilarious. He also pulled a Sid Vicious straight through Mike's screen door when we got to his house after the show, so ummmm, yeah, that was a sight. Sorry Mike!

Most purchased merch on tour: Artwork

Day 4: After checking out some of the art in Downtown Canton and grubbing at a local Diner all decked out in Cleveland Browns memorabilia we hit the open road to spend the next 2 nights in Columbus, OH. The first show was Downtown at spot called Double Happiness. Very cool venue with a Chinese theme and they had the Lucky Buddha beer I like drinking just because it's the shape of a Buddha. This guy Two Muffin Rabbit from Cleveland opened for us with his awesome beatbox and singing manifesto. This was definitely not your typical Hip Hop beatboxer and he even played a Gordon Lightfoot song. Also opening for us was my old friend through music Hyphon. Dude used to book me in La Crosse when he still lived there and it was definitely great to catch up with him for a minute. The show was fun for that sake but definitely the smallest crowd of the tour. It's a very established venue but none of our flyers were up and it didn't seem promoted at all, but that could be our fault too. Definitely looking forward to getting my foot in the door at this spot again though. The door guy, bartender and sound man were all pretty rad though, so thanks yo.

Day 5: Going nowhere, traveling that is. Another day in lovely Columbus which was pretty relaxing as we got to chill at the hotel most of the time, play sub sandwich flutes, and bondage dog found his dumpster bone. I walked across the street and ate alone like a weirdo at Panera for the first time. Little expensive for semi decent food but I needed a meal. I give their French Onion Soup a 3 out of 5 stars. Anyway, The show this night was a last second booking at Bossy Grrl's Pin Up Joint close to the Buckeyes campus. It's definitely a more Burlesque style venue, but they were pretty welcoming to us. Saw some cool acts and met some cool people, not mention getting a better understanding of what Mandie does as an artist. I was definitely in a good happy place with happy people. If you're ever around this area, stop in and have a beer. Tell em' Wisconsin sent ya.

Day 6: Off to the Motor City we go! This was my first trip to Detroit, cause the airport don't count motherfucker. We got to the spot early so we headed Downtown to kill some time, I've always wanted to see it, so I was happy to at least cruise through, I'll be back for more exploring soon. On the way back to the venue we got to drive through the surrounding areas of the city or as a local told me "Old Detroit". The decay is apparent in the neighborhoods surrounding, but all I could picture was what it was once or what it could be, beautiful and sad at the same time. We played later at a venue called The Sanctuary somewhere in 8 mile. Really, I'm not making this stuff up. The venue looks like an abandon church but inside its a punk rock palace so to speak. The dudes running it are pretty rad and the people that came out were all pretty crazy as well, I like crazy, crazy in a good way. This band The Butts ended the evening with a sick set that reminded me of some Beastie Boys meets Ska kinda shit. The show was fun and thanks to The Sanctuary for hosting us. Afterwords we drove with some heads from the show about 5-10 minutes away to get some tacos and it was like we were in a whole new Detroit. Suburbs or whatever, it was a completely different place. Thanks to the local dude who gave me a brief history lesson on the city too, where are you? I have more questions.

Thing I said the most on tour: Oh Ryan

Day 7: W made the trip through the entire state of Michigan and over the Mackinac Bridge into the U.P. to play that night at the Merlot Mansion in Marquette. It's a really cool little city that runs along the shores of Lake Superior and I've been waiting to play this place for quite some time now, so super hollerz at the homie Gerko for making it happen. This was a cool spot with a good crowd and vibe. This psychedelic kinda band touring from Baltimore called Darsombra was also on the bill, cool cats. The microphone shocked my lip pretty good while warming up and they told me not to touch any metal while I was using it, that was a good laugh. All is well though, no shocks during the set. This was probably my favorite performance and best crowd of the tour, the energy I was feeding from these guys was pretty rad that night, they even got down and danced while I was playing, nobody does that shit anymore. It was dark and kinda trippy with the projector in the background so it made for cool lighting and the vibe fit my set well. Thanks to everyone that came out and hopefully I can get up that way again soon. Da Yoopers!

Day 8: Back to Wisconsin to play at JB's Speakeasy in La Crosse, WI for the final show of tour. Besides tacos in Detroit, this was the first time we actually got to sit and eat an actual meal together so we stopped at some joint called JabberJaws Bar in Nekoosa, WI on the way. Looked like a typical dive bar on the outside inside was pretty nice and the people were welcoming. Stop for lunch or a beer sometime if you're passing through and don't tell my Doctor I had Bacon on my sandwich. We finally rolled up to La Crosse to kick it with our homie Mike who helped set up the show. Cool dude, huge Raiders fan, and I like Raiders fans cause I believe they're the type of people who stick around through thick n' thin. After recouping at homies house we headed to JB's Speakeasy for the show. Really cool spot and come to find out an old acquaintance I met through my buddy Hyphon years ago is booking there, so thanks for getting us on Emmy and nice to run into you again. We played with a local group, I can't remember their name because like every other group, they just left after their performance. Pardon me, but I hate that shit. If any of you ever read this, I got nothing but love, but converse, hang out, network. Besides that it was a fun night with good performances, too many obombas and the last of the glitter. A nice way to end the tour, at home, in Wisco.

Day 9: We packed it up and headed home. It was definitely a fun trip and nice to get back on the road for a little bit again, like I said, this was definitely a good group of people to be out there with. I thank everyone of you that made it out to show and supported us in anyway possible, we appreciate you. Touring is definitely not for everyone, nor is it easy, but you can't rap for your friends and the internet the rest of your life. I suggest you make the connections while you can and get out when you can, it's definitely an experience. Thanks to The Gopsel for asking me to join them on the road and setting everything up, I love y'all. It was time to get home, recoup, and hug my wife and cats.

Most illegal item on tour: An advance copy of Straight Outta Compton

XO.

That's all I got for now folks. I'll put the finishing touches on the new EP soon and hopefully have it ready by Fall, get back in the lab with Lodoublet and finish up the WCGC project while writing the new album with homie Ecid on production. Anyway, it was fucking real.

Peace out, bitches.

Too Hot Too Fat Tour in Marquette, MI Tonight!

Only a couple days left.

We played Detroit last night which was hella fun. Good people, cool venue. Got to see some of the sites during the day like Downtown, including the decay in the surrounding neigborhoods or the "old city" as one told me. I had a local explain it to me because I feel like America wants to always talk about the problems of a city rather than talk about the good things. This conversation can be for another day though, and for the record, I liked you Detroit.

Anyway, off we go to rock The Merlot Mansion in Marquette, MI with the old homie Twat tonight!

Then we make the haul over to JB's Speakeasy in La Crosse, WI for the last show of Tour. The Chippewa Falls Show/Festival was cancelled this year so we get to go home a day early. Thanks for keeping up and talk soon, bitches!

Update on the Blueprint Show!

Yo.

As many of you may have heard, Blueprint and the gang got into a gnarly accident while en route to Oshkosh, rolling the van a couple times and being stranded in Iowa. Everyone is safe and that's all we could really ask for, so lets be thankful for that. We tried to make it work but with traveling and getting a new van it would have been too much to put on these guys and had to cancel. They're currently working on make up date so I'll keep you posted.

The show must go on.

The original supporting line up including our good friend and national touring artist Ecid will still be in the house, as well as a couple add ons like Hecubus and Stream of Consciousness. Peep the flyer below and hope to see y'all out!

 Thanks for understanding.
Smiley face.

Blueprint Show this Thursday and Updates Galore!

Hi.

Been a minute my friends! A busy Summer on my end doing grown ass man sh*t like working on the house and just taking care of business as usual. Finally put the wraps on a new EP that I will announce shortly and slowly been working on an all produced by Ecid record too, yay!

I have a bunch of new show updates and tour coming up but first things first… Blueprint is finally making way to my beautiful city of Oshkosh! The city may be taken over by airplanes with EAA going down, but that can't stop us now. He is joined by DJ Rare Groove and Supastition on the King No Crown Tour. Peep the flyer below for full info!

A week after that begins a nice little line up of shows throughout the month of August starting with the Oshkosh Main Street Music Festival and ending the month on Tour with my friends The Gospel. I will keep y'all posted on those in the coming weeks.

Until the next, love you long time.

New Single… NEBULA NECTAR!

#internet

Too much sometimes, stay away if you can.

Anyway, here's a new single called Nebula Nectar. My homie from Brazil recently sent me the beat and I banged it out shortly thereafter. Marcelo Martins is his name and we've been collabing here and there since the days of Myspace, good dude, and his English has gotten much better. I should try and learn Portuguese? Mixed and Mastered by Matthew Sawicki at Suburban Pro Studios in STL, MO.

Enjoy!

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyo!

Been a minute!

I am still alive and well my friends.

I've been working on a lot of new music including a new single that will probably be released next Tuesday on my Bandcamp page. The single is called Nebula Nectar and Produced by the homie Marcelo Martins from Brazil, but that's all I'm going to give you for now. Also putting the wraps on a New EP with beats from Madison Producer extraordinaire DJ Pain1, more info to come on that project soon. Also excited to announce I've began writing my new album which will be Produced in its entirety by my good friend Ecid from Minneapolis.

In the meantime, I was recently asked on Facebook if I had any copies of a Out of Print project of mine from 2002 called The Reparation EP. I haven't had copies of that CD in quite some time, so I created an upload and thought I'd share it with you too. Mind you, the project was Unmastered so no grief about the sound quality please. Smiley face.

Enjoy my youthful stupidity.

Be in touch, bitches!

First Show of the New Year with ECID this Friday in Madsion!

Soooooooooo…

I forgot to type up some year end review new world beginning type story for the site but other than releasing a new album, a solid run on college radio and some fun shows, this year was one f*cktard of a roller coaster. Personal, physical, emotional, let's celebrate and cherish life, look to the future…

This year kicks in show wise for me at The Wisco aka Willy Street Pub in Madison with long time friend and collaborator, ECID! Homie always puts on a good one and it's definitely going to be nice to see him, its been a minute.

Peep the flyer for details below and hope to see some of my Madison heads in the crowd!
